The current water source is groundwater for Hatzic Island and Eagle Road neighbourhoods in Electoral Area G. Residents of the area have contacted the FVRD regarding water quality and quantity over the years requesting the FVRD look into bringing community water to the area due to ongoing issues with existing private wells.
FVRD is conducting a survey to determine if the Hatzic Island and Eagle Road area residents want a community water service. The FVRD has no agenda other than determining if there is community interest for a water service and the tolerance level of fees for a water service. To make a community water system a reality, grant-funding opportunities is an important factor.
We invite you to participate in the survey below to help the FVRD better understand community interest. After the survey closes, FVRD staff will review the feedback provided in the survey and report back through the HaveYourSay platform. If Hatzic Island and Eagle Road area residents favour a water system service, FVRD would consult with Hatzic Island and Eagle Road area residents and neighbouring municipalities (Abbotsford and Mission); determine the potential configuration of a water system; and seek grant-funding opportunities when available.
If all of the steps noted above are achieved, the FVRD will come back to residents and present an opportunity to formally vote in favor or against a community water system.
