October 2025 Update

We're excited to share that the Fraser Canyon Complete Community Assessment has now been completed! This milestone marks the culmination of a year-long project funded by the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM).

The assessment provides a detailed look at housing, transportation, infrastructure, and access to daily needs (services) in the canyon communities, offering practical strategies to make them more complete, connected, and resilient. Guided by four themes - housing, access to daily needs, transportation, and infrastructure - the study identifies opportunities to strengthen community hubs, improve local livability and inform the upcoming Official Community Plan update for parts of Electoral Areas A and B.

Exciting news – the Fraser Valley Regional District has received grant funding from the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) to undertake a Complete Communities Assessment for parts of Electoral Areas A and B!

The Complete Communities Assessment is an exciting initiative that looks at making our Fraser Canyon communities even better places to call home. We're taking a close look at what makes a community truly "complete" – things like having a variety of housing options, local job opportunities, and access to everyday services and amenities.

Here's what we're doing for the Canyon communities:

  1. We're examining the current housing situation, including what types of homes are available and what our community needs.
  2. We're exploring ways to create more diverse employment opportunities.
  3. We're assessing the services and amenities that are essential for daily life.
  4. We're looking at how we can make it easier for people to get around.

Why is this assessment so important? It’s about planning for a brighter future. By understanding what our communities need, we can make smart decisions about how to grow and change in ways that benefit everyone. This study will help us create communities where people of all ages and backgrounds can thrive, with access to affordable housing, good jobs, and the services they need closer to home.

We're excited to hear from you, too! Take the survey now and you could win a $100 gift card!

Your input is crucial in shaping the future of our Fraser Canyon communities. Together, we can build vibrant, sustainable places that we're all proud to call home.
