FVRD has received applications for Commercial Gravel Permits for two existing quarries in Electoral Area F. Stave Lake Quarry and Sylvester Quarry are long-standing operations that have been active since 1993 and 1986, respectively. They both hold valid provincial permits from the Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals (MMCM).
What kind of input is FVRD seeking for the Commercial Gravel Permits?
If the applications meet al the requirements of the Commercial Gravel Operations Bylaw, the FVRD Board must issue the permit. The Board may impose site-specific conditions related to matters regulated by the bylaw, such as noise and dust control.
Once you have reviewed the applications documents for each permit, consider whether the applications meet the requirements of the Commercial Gravel Operations Bylaw. Also consider whether FVRD should impose conditions in the permit that relate to matters regulated by the bylaw.

Tell us whether you think the application meets requirements of the Commercial Gravel Operations Bylaw. If you think the requirements have not been met, please tell us why. You can also tell us what site-specific permit conditions would be helpful for ensuring the operation is compliant with the bylaw.
Important community concerns, such as speeds or volumes of vehicles on roads, will be raised with the appropriate provincial ministry.
